The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is in charge of gambling regulations and licensing in the state of Pennsylvania.  The goal of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is to be the top gambling regulatory authority in the United States by enhancing and maintaining the public’s trust through credibility, integrity and honesty. 

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, which follows the Gaming Act, protects the interests of the citizens of Pennsylvania by ensuring fairness and safety of legalized gambling through enforcement of regulations and laws.  In addition, licenses are only given to qualified entities and individuals.  This board ensures that all operators are compliant with the gambling regulations in the state and that the state receives income from gambling proceeds to enhance tourism and create economic opportunities. 

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board ensures that many benefits for citizens of the state are derived from the proceeds of gambling activities.  The Pennsylvania Race Horse Development as well as the Gaming Act were created specifically for the purpose of generating benefits for the citizens of Pennsylvania through legalized casino gaming and horse race betting.  Currently, over 16,000 new jobs have been created through the gaming industry and the industry has generated more than $6 billion worth of tax revenue. 

This revenue is used to improve the quality of life of Pennsylvania’s citizens through revamping the horse racing industry and reducing property taxes for homeowners.  Various casino games provide the state with different amounts of revenue.  For instance, table games retain more of their profit than slots games because they have higher overhead costs.  However, the state as well as local governments receive 100% of the tax revenue from table games.
